Supervision
This coaching story sees me banging the drum for supervision, as I’ve been both supervisor and supervisee this week. I find it fascinating when those new to coaching seem really surprised, that those of us who have been in the coaching field for a number of years are still having supervision.
Supervision is an essential opportunity to not only reflect on our practice and our coachees but to also reflect on ourselves. However self-aware I may be, my patterns of behaving in the world are well ingrained, and can be triggered by different interactions. Supervision brings the chance for interactive reflection. To bring to light those relational dynamics, that in the moment I might have been blind to. For me supervision helps to keep me safe, helps me to add greater value to my clients and sharpens my practice as a coach.
So, I will leave you with the question, when were you last in coaching supervision and is it time you made this a regular commitment?
