The last couple of weeks have seen two team coaching assignments coming to an end. My work as a team coach supervisor has helped me with my endings.
I often find team coaches are filling a space that is not being occupied by the team they are working with. This may be bringing pace or challenge, bringing a stakeholder perspective etc. But if we just silently fill that space, once we step out, that hole will re-emerge. So, part of our role as team coaches is to make what we do visible. Helping the team learning to be sustainable by reflecting on what the team coach has bought to the table, and how they as a team will keep this going, if it is still necessary. So, I have been very deliberate in working visibly with my team assignment endings.
As jobbing coaches/ team coaches, as any ending approaches, we should be actively managing our pipeline. I am pleased to say as one door closes, I start working with a new team this week!
